The Creepy Passage-Almost Done

"Wait, so we have to go to a different class?" I ask.
"Yes," said Mr. Joseph, "And bring a notebook."
'Great' I think.
I wait for my good friend, Logan, and he grabs one of the class notebooks, and we head to the classroom we have to be in. Logan, being a 'genius,' tells me that we could talk using our notebooks, kind of like the old, note-passing style.
So we are here, and earlier, I had given Logan a water bottle, so he was playing with it. After a little bit through our note conversation, Logan's water bottle, decided it would be fun to have the cap on wrong and burst open.
"Ahhh!!!!" I scream, scrambling on to my feet and running out of the room, it spilled on to my calf, and the sudden coldness gave me a sudden shock.
"What happened?" Logan wondered.
"You didn't tighten the cap enough." I explain. "Mr. J, can we go get some paper towel, Logan spilled water."
"Sure," He replies.

Me and Logan are heading to the office, to tell them that there is a spill in Mrs. Fitz's room.
"Ok. We'll send someone to go clean it up," says the lady at the office.
"Alright," Logan says.
"Come on Logan, let's go back to class," I say, and Logan follows me back to class, it turns out, we were already outside. Our goal was to zoom in with a pretend supper camera and write with very specific details.
Okay, let me explain, I'm Simon, and this is going to make you shiver.
And then I saw it, Logan saw it too, this one part if the hedge that just, stuck out. I am now zooming in, closer, closer, and now seeing all the details. In case you are wondering, this is what I wrote.

Even in the most beautiful and elegant day, it will intimidate you and even in the blazing heat of the summer, when you step into it, you will be chilled to the bone. In the dark, cooling shade, a few streams of light shine through the cracks of the tall, slender trees. There are vines and bushes at the bottom of the trees creating a thick, yellow and green blockade.
It looks like an entrance to something scary, hair-raising, spine-chilling, blood-curling, horrifying, nerve-racking and Halloween like. Almost like an abandoned mine, forbidden forest, or another dimension. It’s really scary, even though the things around it are more on the beautiful nature side.
If you were step under it, it would be very pokey and thick and hard to get through. It would be almost like the plants are trying to keep you from going out to the other side. Like it is trying to warn you, trying to keep you away from whatever may be ahead of you. Almost like a keep out sign, but no signs are there. Almost like a trap, but to keep you from danger, rather than trying to hurt you.
It looks this way because there is a light layer of leaves and behind it, everything has no leaves and dry branches. Dead. And plus, the most creepy part is that you can perfectly hear the magnificent call of the birds, which are known as crows, right there in the bone-chilling shade.

"Alright, lets go back inside guys," I hear a teacher scream, so then everyone started poring back inside into the room, to hear the teacher talk some more.
Now, I don't remember anything of what they said, but I Aced the assignment, and had a good time with my best friend, Logan, but that was the story, of 'The Creepy Passage.'

Even in the most beautiful day, it will scare you and even in the blazing heat of the summer, when you step into it, you will be freezing, and maybe even shiver. In the dark, cooling shade, a few streams of light shine through the cracks of the tall, skinny trees. There are vines and bushes at the bottom of the trees creating a thick, yellow, green and leafless stem blockade.

It makes it look like an entrance to something scary, and Halloween like. Almost like an abandoned cave/mine, forbidden forest, or another dimension. It’s really scary, even though the things around it are beautiful.

If you were step under it, it would be very pokey and thick and hard to get through. It would be almost like the bushes are trying to keep you from going out to the other side. 10.3.13

Yesterday, I got a really cool game on my iPad. It is called INJUSTICE: Gods Among Us

I’ve gotten really far in it and it is really fun and easy, I haven’t yet once lost. I got it before but it didn’t work and I forgot about it, then William told me about it and remembered that it didn’t work on my iPod but it might work on my iPad.
So then I got it on my iPad, and it was really fun. I suggest it to people who like Infinity Blade.

10.2.13

It was just a normal day, like another, and it was a nice time in science. Then there was a fire drill, and I left my iPad in the room and went away.

I come back, and my iPad is completely shattered. I don't know how, but it was. It as horrible, no one knows how, I thought it could've been from the vibrations, but the case was unsolved. That was the first time I had ever cracked my iPad.

10-1-13

Well, I don’t know if you know this but my mom is the coolest. She always buys me really cool things. Like she bought me a spoon so I could water my plants easier, and she got me a briefcase and a lamp for the head of my bed, and she got a really cool vinyl record, I always listen to it when I go to sleep. She gets me things that make my life easier. She doesn’t get me the coolest things, but the make-life-easier things.

Like I said, my mom is the best.

9.17.13 Small Moment 1

Well, this morning I found something in my journal. There were tally marks all over one page. I guess it must've happened last night because they weren't there when I looked in it before I got ready for bed. I'm really scared to go back in to my room, because, just in case you didn't know, there are creatures, and when you see them, you forget about them when you look away, but you but tally marks so you can know that you saw them. I'm really scared. (WC=90)

Small Moment

Tuesday, September 10, 2013

A good Small Moment is when I got my

Kittah!!

Today my mom said we were gonna get a cat. I was very excited.

After driving to my Mom's Co-Worker/Friend's house, we went inside. There were kittens EVERYWHERE!! (It was a big litter) Since I was a little kid I kept pointing out which on I wanted, but little did I know there was already on picked out for us.

After we found the one we were getting, we named it Ninja. Mainly because it would attack the other kats. You know, like ninja. So we put him in the crate thing, and were on our way. We also had a straw with us because he likes playing with things like pencils and such.

While my mom was driving, me and my brother, Reid, were playing with our new kitten, Ninja. While playing, I accidentally dropped the straw into the cage and so we couldn't play with him on the rest of the ride home, but that was ok because, I didn't know then, but I would have lots more fun with him then I originally thought.

That is the story of how I got my now only cat, and best friend, Ninja.

Do you write? Like every day? well you should, because... Writing is good. If you don't have a writing habit, you can't really express your feelings. Getting a writing habit helps a lot and is as good as reading. Vise Versa. It helps you feel good about yourself and also gives you something to do. So thats why sustaining a writing habit is good.

Writing may help with your English, or other language, skills. Like reading and   speaking. 'Writing equips you with the communication and thinking skills you need to participate effectively,' (Marquette University). That just explains how it can help.

Sustaining a writing habit, and having good English skills will help you get a better job, because you will be able to communicate better. It may also help you to get a good job like an author or a journalist. And then maybe you might become a world-wide known person and makes lots of money.

English (or any other language) is in every job, that's for sure. And if you have a writing habit, then it will help in that job. In any job. In every job!  So writing helps a lot.

Another thing writing can do is help you express your emotions. If you write you can express them in your writing, and no one will think it is real if it is private, they'll probably just think its fiction. Or something that you made up.

So that's people write everyday, because if you start a writing habit as a kid, then it will help your whole career. So maybe, you might become a #1 Best Seller, but only if you start a writing habit.

Essay 4.25.13

Have you ever felt as you felt like going home, but you thought that someone would hurt your feelings? Are you uncomfortable, but cant do anything about it? Well so does Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien.

It is either really cold, or uncomfortable. Like the narrator said in the book, "The nights were comfortless and chill, and they did not dare to sing or talk to loud, for the echoes were uncanny, and the silence seemed to dislike being broken-except by the noise of water and the wail of wind and the crack of stone," it was probably very dangerous to sing and talk, but it was also very cold so all they could do was just sit there in the wind.

Sometimes, Bilbo thinks it was a bad idea to have even gone, which makes him want to go home even more. It proves my idea right here, from what Bilbo said, from the book, " 'Why, O why did I ever leave my hobbit-hole!' said poor Mr. Baggins bumping up and down on Bombur's back."

Another reason the Dwarves didn't want Bilbo to leave is not because, one, he signed a contact AND promised to go with them, but, two, he was a here to them. In this paragraph, straight from the book, it states just one he saved them.
"Wriggling along the branch (which made all the poor dwarves dance and dangle like ripe fruit) he reached the first bundle. 'Fili or Kili,' he thought by the tip of a blue hood sticking out at the top. 'Most likely Fili,' he thought by the tip of a long nose poking out of the winding threads. He managed by leaning over to cut most of the strong sticky threads that bound him round, and then, sure enough, with a kick and a struggle most of Fili emerged." Then they fought off the rest of the spiders and saved the rest.

So now, no matter how much Bilbo Baggins wants to go home, he can't, because they need him and he is afraid to let them down. So in the book, The Hobbit, by JRR Tolkien, Mr. Baggins will not leave because he doesn't want to let down the Dwarves.

Small Moment 4.8.13

Last night, at about 1 in the morning, i was texting my friend. I said "I am gonna try to go to sleep now" so i lean my iPad against the wall on my bed. So i was sitting just sitting there and i turn over and all of the sudden,
*BA-BANG*
My iPad falls to the ground. I was so worried everybody would wake up. I mean i was supposed to be asleep, and all of the sudden, there is a giant bang. i thought everybody would wake up and come to see if I was ok, and then they would know i was texting my friends. I was so scared. But then no one came. i was lucky. usually someone would've heard it.

Rough Outline 4.16.13

Literary Essay Rough Plan
Claim: In the book, The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien, Bilbo is afraid to tell the truth to the dwarves, because he is afraid that if he tells the dwarves, that he doesn't want to be there and he wants to be at his home, they will not like him.

Reason: It's always really cold and uncomfortable and not nice and comfortable.
Supporting Example 1 [direct quotation]
Page: 41
Far, far away in the West, where things were blue and faint, Bilbo knew there lay his own country of safe and comfortable things, and his little hobbit hole.
Supporting Example 2 [direct quotation]
Page: 41
The nights were comfortless and chill, and they did not dare to sing or talk to loud, for the echoes were uncanny, and the silence seemed to dislike being broken-except by the noise of water and the wail of wind and the crack of stone.

Supporting Example 3 [direct quotation]
Page:132
Down into the water he fell, splash!, into the cold dark water with the barrel on top of him.

Reason:Sometimes Bilbo thinks it was a bad idea to have gone with the Dwarves in the first place.

Wriggling along the branch (which made all the poor dwarves dance and dangle like ripe fruit) he reached the first bundle. "Fili or Kili," he thought by the tip of a blue hood sticking out at the top. "Most likely Fili," he thought by the tip of a long nose poking out of the winding threads. He managed by leaning over to cut most of the strong sticky threads that bound him round, and then, sure enough, with a kick and a struggle most of Fili emerged.

Well I really don't feel like writing right now, but I have to. It's for my grades. I have really bad grades in LA and I'm trying to get them up. I hope I can get them up soon. I can't get bad grades. I just can't. I'm not allowed to. It's just the way it is.
So I hope I can get my grades up, but really there is still nothing I can really do.
I'm really fear behind because I save my work, not publish, but save, so I can finish it at home, but them it disappears. It makes me really angry. I hope I'm able to catch up and get my grades to catch up too.
Well it's been about five minutes. BYE!!

I am very very angry. My BMO watch is broken. The second hand keeps stoping, and when the second hand stops, the whole watch stops. The second hand countrols everything. It sucks. Now my Mom and I have to go to Hot Topic to see if they will let us exchange it for another one. I am devistated, that was my early birthday present. Grrrrrr. I'm about to explode!!
Well that's been long enough. See you all later. Bye!!!!

3.17.13 5 MIN

Yesterday was so much fun. First I went to Logan's birthday party at Dave and Buster's for like four hours.
Then me and my mom went to Great Lakes Crossing for Rainforest Cafe for lunch.
We got me a BMO watch and a BMO toy and a glow bracelet.
After that my mom was using a GPS and I ask, why you using dat. She said because we were going home a different way.
After a little bit, we were near where my brother graduated and where Erebus is.
I all of the sudden see a line of people and a sign that says...(drumroll)... LINDSEY STIRLING!!

My mom pulls up her phone and records my reaction. It was funny.

So we go into the dance club and the bass is pumping. So we wait and then the starting band comes on. After about a half hour, she comes on. I had the time of my life from then until 10:30. I even got right up close to the stage. It was so cool.

I had such a good time, and everything that my mom did that day all made sense after I knew about concert. Well it was a blast and I loved it. That's all I gots to say

Technically the from post was five minutes, but it isn't writhing. All this homework is really stressful and confusing and I don't really get a lot of it. But ill get help from someone. I'm having breakdowns because I won't be able to finish my homework on time. Every time I do, it feels as my head is about to explode.
I need to just stop my homework and go to bed, but then I'll get bad grades. I don't want bad grades. Bad grades are bad. Hence the BAD in front of the grades. I hope I get good grades by the end of the quarter. Oh!! I still have to finish my conference preparation. I'll do that after this.
WHOOPS! It's been 6 minutes now. Bye.

Identifying Reasons 3.21.13

Identifying Reasons - Questions
Answer the following questions about your character. Use what you know about how he or she acts, speaks to other character, and thinks. You may re-read your text to help you with your responses.

How did people or situations influence the character I’m writing about?

The places he goes influences Bilbo because it is always really wet, or really dry, and uncomfortable and really col, or really hot, and he doesn't like it. He always wants to be back at his house where it is nice and cozy and always the ways he likes it.

Why does he or she change?

He changes when he realizes how far he has gone, and to turn back would mean it would take to long to go back home, then to go where he needed to go. He just has to pus forward to where he has to go, so that when it is time to go, it's easier to go back.

Explain what will continue to hold him or her back?

The thing that will continue to hold him back is the fact he will won't make it home for a while and h realizes hat. he realizes that no matter how much he wants to he isn't. He knows that he will keep going and going until the end. Then he also has to make it all the way back.

He always wants to go home, but he won't because he signed a contract. He can't leave because he signed a contract. He also cant leave because of the dangerous path that they left behind them. He has to just keep pushing. It's only in the last part of the last chapter does he ever make it back. And he always thinks "I shouldn't have left" or "I wish I was back at the comfort of my home"

But he doesn't do it, he was triumphant enough from the beginning to say until the end. But he was always being held back until then.

Using the questions you just answered about your character, push your thinking to explain why your claim is true. This is separate than the initial evidence you previously found. Each explanation becomes a reason, which could later serve as the topic sentence of each body paragraph.

Text Title: The Hobbit

Claim: Bilbo doesn't want to be where he is and he wants to be home. He is always very uncomfortable where he is and he would have rather not to have left, and would have still been home, but he still pushes on.

My claim is true because…..

Theory to Claim 3.12.13

Theory to Claim
The Hobbit
Theory # 1

All Bilbo Baggins wants to do is go back to his Hobbit Hole.

      1.     “I never should have left my Hobbit Hole. It was a bad idea to have left.”
      2.     Bilbo wishes he would have stayed home again, and it wasn’t the last time he would say it.
      3.     He really thought hard of what it would be like to be home, instead of sneaking around and stealing food.
1.       Thought
  1. Narrator Dialogue
  2.  Narrator Dialogue

Claim:
In "The Hobbit," by J.R.R Tolkien, The only thing Bilbo Baggins can think about is being home. He thinks about. The Story Teller (Narrator) talks about it. All the time, Bilbo just wants to be back at his little Hobbit Hole where it is warm and cozy. The reason why he regrets leaving his house is because he got dragged out by the Dwarves and he thought it was a bad idea to go with them. All throughout the story Bilbo always just wants to be back at his house because wherever he was, it was either cold, wet or uncomfortable. Or even chard with dragon breath. That is why Bilbo wanted to be home so badly, because he wished that he was like the rest of the Hobbits.

3.5.13 Charecter Thinking

Thinking about Character

  • What things or people does this character long for (want to do, enjoy)?
He longs for being back at his house.

  • What does this character want to do or be by the end of the story?
He wants to be normal again, because he became an adventurous hobbit and most hobbits are just calm and normal.

  • What does the character fear?
He’s afraid that he is going to die before he ever gets back home.

  • What is the character struggling against? What gets in the character’s way?

  • What relationships does the character have and how do these relationships play a significant role in the story?

  • How does the character change over the course of the story?

  • Does the character learn lessons or come to realizations?

Rodrico's Wrath-2.7.13

Chapter 1
The Problem .._..

Ashton ran as fast as he could trying to get away from the pack of bullies chasing him. He knew he would get the worse if they would catch him, and it would not be good. Ashton takes a sharp turn around the house he was running next to, and crawled high up a tree. The group of kids turned around the corner and looked around for him. Then Ashton slipped and made a small yelp as he caught himself from falling. By then they obviously knew where he was.

They started to climb up tree after him, but only with their leader’s command. His name was Rodríco. The biggest, baddest bully around. He watched, as Ashton's heart skipped a beat. Ashton knew he was doomed.

Ashton's thoughts were racing as he climbed higher, out of their reach. Then he realized he could climb on the roof. He jumped, but slipped, but still grabbed onto the edge. They made it too the top and were reaching out towards him, he noticed Rodríco had gone and then noticed someone was on the roof. He thought it was Rodríco, so he half let go of the edge and half fell. Then soft hands grabbed his. They obviously weren't Rodríco’s. He looked up and it was Will. Will always moisturized his hands. He realized he was at Will’s house. He doesn't know how he could forget his best friends house.

Will pulled him up and the one of the kids started to climb but fell. His bright blue shirt had a red spot on it. Then Ashton remembered Rodríco was wearing a bright-blue shirt. He stood up and left. His “friends” followed. Will led Ashton through an open window, on level with the roof, and into the house.

.._..

They were in the kitchen drinking tea. Will asked what had happened.
"I don't know. I was just walking home from school when Rodríco jumped out of nowhere and yelled 'GET HIM!' and I just ran."
"Where's all your stuff?"
"I've got no homework today."
"Lucky. I do."
Will grabbed his gray backpack and pulled out an unsharpened pencil and a pencil sharpener.
"Can you sharpen this?"
"Can I? Yes. May I?-"
"Yes." Zach cut Ashton off and handed it to him,
"Here."
"Fine"
Ashton took the small sharpener and pencil and started to sharpen it. Zach took out a big, heavy red book with a red rosé on the front. Ashley gave him the pencil and he started writing as he said quietly "Thanks."

.._..

Ashton lay on his bed in silence and his mom yells from below.
"DINER!"
"I'll be there in a second!" Ashton yells back.
Ashton gets up, and walks down his carpet-covered stairs. It felt soft on his bare feet. He sat down on the chair he always sits at, at dinner. He started eating while her mom's favorite show started, "Wheel... of... FORTUNE!!" The TV announced. Ashton was very hungry after his long day at school. He ate his salad, and gobbled up his nice juicy steak. He got up to leave the table when his mother called,
"Ashton, put your dishes in the sink."
"Fine," Ashton said as he rolled his eyes.

Chapter Two
The Realization.._..

After Ashton had put away his dishes, he was in his room reading his book, "The Steak Hunt," a book that only relates to the title at the beginning of the book, and the end, but you didn't get it until the end of the book. It's one of Ashton's favorite books and its his third time reading it. He liked how the main character, Abigail, had lived on a farm and nobody but her neighbors knew or cared about her. Then she had a chance to go to the BIG city of New York. She went there and noticed how everybody wore fancy or business clothes. She had instead if just visiting there, her and her family moved there for a couple of months. While she was there she noticed that people made fun of her clothes and how she talked. Then she realized everyone else wore different stuff. While people were laughing at her in the halls at her school. She told turned, walked up to the bully real fast and said "I don't understand why you have to say my clothes looks funny when your buddy there," she pointed at one of the kids, "Has a completely different style of clothes then you. It's natural for people to be different so why do I have to be made fun of. Why don't you just make fun of best friend instead of me or least think twice about say!" She stormed off and got lost in the crowd of people.

Since there, whispers, rumors and jokes spread like wild fires, no one ever made fun of her again. In fact, they thought she was brave for standing up to one of biggest bully in the school. She goes back there every year, and that bully, Rebeca, is Abigail's best friend.

As Ashton lay in bed, trying to go sleep while think of how horrible the next day would be. He somehow got to the point where he was thinking of the book he had just been reading. THAT'S IT!! I can do what Abigail did in the story and maybe people might understand. Then he dozed off to sleep.

.._..

He woke up to an annoying scratch at his door. He looked at his clock. It was 3:27. 'Why. Why does have to wake me up now.' he thought. He walked through the room in the pitch black. He could barley see, but could see well enough to navigate. He opened up the door and his little Cuddlepants walked in the room. He got back in bed and Cuddlepants probably went under the bed. After about a minute, Cuddlepants jumped on to the bed, curled up at the foot of the bed
and Cuddlepants out her paws on Ashton's feet. They both dozed off.

.._..

When the alarm went off, Cuddlepants ran out of the room and Ashton jumped up and shut it off. He turned on his light and the room rid of the moonlight glow and picked up a nice dim yellow one. It hurt his eyes to look around he looked down instead and made his way across the room, got dressed in the clothes everyone seems to hate, and made his way down the stairs.

He quickly ate his breakfast, made his lunch and packed his bag. He had completely forgot of his idea last night. The only he could think of was catching the bus. He put on his coat and hat, said bye to his mom and dad, picked up his backpack and walked out the door, across the street, down the road and to the bus stop, and waited and waited and waited until it finially got there. He sat on the bus for an eternity before he finially got to school.

He said wave goodbye to the cheese-bus (that's what he calls it, because its yellow like cheese) and went inside.

.._..

A few days have gone by and he has not seen Rodríco, 'I wonder what happened to him' he thought. Ashton had a reputation of not getting messed with, because he could beat anybody up in a second, but then Rodríco hides behind his gang and it becomes a hole different story. He doesn't know what he'll do about Rodríco, because one guy is easy, 16 or what ever is a lot harder. But then he saw Rodríco. 'Maybe I could reason with him.' He thought, so Ashton walks up to the bully and asks, "Why do you bully me?"

"Because your clothes make you look ghetto," Rodríco replies.
"One, Thats not very nice. Two, I'm not ghetto and I don't look ghetto. And, Three, Why do you have to make fun of me, for wearing different clothes, when everybody else wears different things than me and you?"

It was kind of like he wasn't prepared for the prey to fight back. Well it's high time they do. This means (maybe) WAR!

.._..

Chapter 3
Prey or Predator

.._..

Ashton got a couple friends and they stacked up some chairs and Ashton stood up on them and yelled out,

"Everybody of Great Lakes Middle School, pay attention! Raise your hand if your sick of Rodríco!" Almost everybody raised there hands. "Well today is the day when prey becomes predator!"

Everybody looked at him like he was crazy, but they still agreed with him. Everybody helped make websites and posters and hall-monitors and anti-bullies and they voted him out. He even left the school and no-one ever got bullied again, at the Great Lakes Middle School.

That their is the happy story of Great Lakes Middle School vs. Rodríco.
